Roadmap Update: May 2022
Checking in on what we’ve achieved and setting the path forward

Things are moving quickly over at Hololoot HQ, and we’re extremely excited to present our updated, consolidated roadmap. We took some time to not just reassess our priorities, but to also define better what we want to achieve with Hololoot overall.
We’ve stuck to our key development milestones and refocused our efforts to reflect the changes we’re making to the app. Don’t worry — the vision and goals of the project haven’t changed, and we know you’ll get behind our new, clearer roadmap ✨
In this article, we dive into what we’ve got planned in the coming quarter, what to look forward to for the rest of the year and look back at some of our Q1/Q2 achievements.
The present: Q2 2022
Android Support
As you’re all probably aware, Q2 has had its fair share of AR NFT drops since the marketplace went live at the end of March. These drops have so far been limited to our iOS supporters as the beta version of our app was only available through Apple’s TestFlight.
That’s about to change.
We know that a lot of you use Android, which is why we’ve prioritized Android support in our development sprints. And we’re excited to say that we’re on track for the beta to release in early June. Make sure you’re keeping an eye on our announcements for the details!
First AR NFT Airdrop
Supporting Hololoot has its perks, one of which is AR NFT airdrops! We’re proud to have distributed our first airdrop to $PIXEL stakers in April — if you staked, check your wallet for our feline mascot Holly ✨ And when Android support goes live we’ll all be hanging out with the cutest pet in the metaverse.
But the airdrops won’t stop there: we recently polled our community on the design direction for our next AR NFT airdrop! Keep an eye on the announcement for more details.
MVP for AR Glasses
Hololoot is hitting the proverbial runway with our MVP for AR glasses! This is an exciting way to showcase Hololoot tech to the world’s AR community. If you’d like to get up to speed on what’s happening in the world of AR glasses, check out our article on wearables.
MVP for INO Launchpad
Initial NFT Offerings (INOs) are exciting ways for projects to build hype around an NFT collection, and they allow community members to get in on the ground floor on interesting (and potentially lucrative) NFT drops.
Even though the marketplace launched in March, we’ve been intentionally taking our time to make sure that everything is perfect before the INO platform launches. There are lots of moving parts that go into making something like this work, so it’s essential that we test, double test and then test again every single smart contract and front-end feature. We’re looking forward to launching the INO pad with a bang as soon as it’s ready!
The future: Q3 and Q4 2022
MVP for Location-based AR NFTs
In Q3 we’ll turn our attention to improving our existing products, as well as expanding our NFT utility to include location-based AR assets. This is a massive step forward for our platform’s utility, offering new ways to interact not just with AR NFTs, but also with other people in our metaverse.
With location-based AR NFTs, brands, artists, creators and curious Hololooters can find new ways to engage and interact with the metaverse. This is the same type of AR asset that’d find in apps like Pokémon Go, and during public AR installations. This opens the door to a lot of new opportunities, so get thinking about how you’d use location-based AR NFTs.
Token Bridge
The future is multi-chain, and so is Hololoot. Right now our token is based on Binance Smart Chain, but as our userbase increases, we’ll look to bridge to other networks as well.
A big part of this plan is our partnerships with Enjin and Efinity. Our good friends at SupraOracles will be helping us to bridge to Enjin’s jumpnet, allowing us to access an entire new NFT market. While we can’t say for sure when the bridge will be live, Q3 is when we’ll be pushing to begin branching out.
MVP for the 3D Configurator
Ever wanted to create your own AR NFT collection? That’s right, collection — not just one, but many different AR NFT assets. With our 3D Configurator, you’ll be able to do just that ✨
Thanks to some algorithmic wizardry that we’ve been working with since before Hololoot even began, we’ll be releasing a platform that will allow you to not just generate AR assets from 3D models, but to customize and change the way they look. This Q4 MVP continues our path toward mass adoption by giving NFT creators the tools they need to bring their collections into AR.
Crypto Zoo AR NFT Mini-game
We’re all about Play-to-Earn, but the whole system hinges on one important point: playing! In Q4 we’ll be releasing AR mini-games that use our Crypto Zoo assets — so if you’ve got access to the marketplace, make sure you pick up one of those cute little critters.
As anyone who has tried to build an interactive AR NFT metaverse before can attest, games aren’t the easiest thing to pull off. While the MVPs will be single-player, our vision is to enable turn-based multiplayer experiences in the early versions. As time and technology evolve, we can imagine the AR metaverse (and the games within it) appearing more like what you’d find if you strapped yourself into a VR headset. While that’s a roadmap point for a different year, we’re still really excited to share some awesome games with you by the end of 2022.
The past: Q4 2021 and Q1 2022
We’re pleased to say we hit all our key milestones for the first two quarters of our public development roadmap. The token launch, metaverse beta and the AR NFT marketplace were highlights from those periods and set up our deliverables for the later quarters.
Developing a revolutionary AR product was never going to be easy, and we were cautious to set our expectations as such. The technological frameworks we’re building on are at the cutting edge of technology, and a lot of the things we want to achieve are simply limited by what is available today. But we’re in this for the long haul, and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far.
On the road(map) again
Like we’ve always said, Hololoot is a long-term project, and as new technologies become available, our roadmap will continue to evolve. In the meantime, we’re excited to bring even more users to our app with the Android beta and to expand our AR NFT offerings over the coming quarters.
As always, keep a close eye on our channels for all the latest updates ✨
